Students brush up their skills to bring Fortem’s new office to life

Fortem Global’s new HQ has been turned into a work of art thanks to the creativity of talented students in Leeds.

Students from Leeds Arts University have created two striking wall murals at Fortem’s contemporary new office in the heart of Leeds city centre’s financial quarter.

The artists were tasked with creating design concepts for a mural to cover two walls in the York Place Buildings office.

There were many great designs submitted to a judging panel of Fortem Global and Leeds Arts University representatives, who had the difficult job of picking two winners.

And in the end the judges chose designs from Hannah Rice BA (Hons) Graphic Design and Benjamin Campbell, BA (Hons) Fine Art. The talented artists each received an £800 commission for their respective designs, which they skilfully turned into reality.

Fortem Global Managing Director, Richard Tasker says: “To celebrate our expansion into new offices we wanted something original and inspirational that would also showcase the work of local artists.

“Providing the space for creativity and positivity to thrive is vital to our team and business, and what better way to open our new office than to invite our talented people here in Leeds to create something extraordinary.

“Our recent move has been a great success for our growing team and the new vibrant space is testament to the talent of students in Leeds.”

The winners say their designs represent the desire for staff at Fortem Global to help people along life’s journey to success, whilst incorporating the Leeds urban skyline to highlight the roots of the city that the company and artists call home.

The open windows design highlights the many perspectives across the world held by diverse clients in different time zones, as well as the opportunities at Fortem Global.

“Life is made up of chances and moments of opportunity,” says Benjamin. “The imagery of windows represents the opportunities customers have when choosing Fortem Global, and mirrors the variety of properties that Fortem Global can advise on. The colour scheme was chosen to be positive and motivational, while representing high quality.”

Richard adds: “We’d like to thank Hannah and Benjamin for their hard work and creativity. We’re thrilled with the result and would like to thank the students at Leeds Arts University for all their submissions.”

Elli Whitefoot, Assistant Careers Employability & Enterprise Assistant Manager at Leeds Arts University, says: “Our students were keen to get involved in business and apply their creativity. The brief was met enthusiasm and students took on the challenge to create a colourful and uplifting mural for this internationally respected business.”
